Workshop 1
Frontier in the Body
14th - 17th February 2025 (Women participants)
19th - 22nd February 2025(Mixed group for all gender)
With Yuko Kaseki
Explore the body as a frontier, delving into its hidden, untouched fields of emotions, memories, and sensations. Through this workshop, we will research every detail of the body, breaking it down and reconnecting the parts in new ways. We’ll observe the habitual movements shaped by socialization, using dysfunction as a tool for creation, discovering new layers of vision and bodily systems.
The workshop focuses on developing original movement through physical training, honing body awareness, and improvisation with imagery, gesture, space, and relationships. Training is grounded in Noguchi gymnastics, Noguchi Seitai, Butoh methodology, and elements of Tai Chi. We aim to awaken the whole body, working from the center (Tanden), our core energy source, to deepen our sensitivity. Participants will learn to listen inwardly and relate this awareness to the external world.
You’ll have the opportunity to engage in solo, duet, and group improvisations, exploring movement through both intensity and reduction. The goal is for each person to dive deep into their unique physical expression, translating movement into individual manifestations of reality and presence.
